Custom Car Care Wagga – A Legacy in Detailing

Early Beginnings

Established in 2003, Custom Car Care Wagga grew from Cam Watson’s lifelong passion for car detailing.
Born and raised in Wagga Wagga, Cam began at just 9 years old, washing and waxing his father’s car. What started as a simple chore quickly became an obsession.

By 14, while still a student at Wagga High School, Cam had purchased his first machine polisher. Using Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze system, he was already performing advanced detailing for family and friends.

Building Experience

Over the next eight years, Cam immersed himself in detailing literature and refined his craft through hands-on work. In 2001, at age 21, he joined a local detailing business at the back of a dealership.  The role gave him industry experience but also revealed a gap in Wagga—dealership work lacked real quality.

Launching the Business

Determined to raise standards, Cam launched his own business in 2003. He leased a disused commercial bakery on Pearson Street and converted the 200sqm space into a professional workshop with an indoor wash bay.

Recognition and Growth

The business grew quickly. In 2005, it won the Wagga Business Chamber Award for “Best New Business.”
By 2012, Cam moved into a larger, high-visibility premises with a showroom, reception, and customer lounge. This expansion aligned with the global rise of ceramic coatings and social media.

Custom Car Care Wagga went on to become a finalist in the Wagga Business Chamber Awards in 2012 & 2014 and in 2015, won the International Detailing Association’s “Detail Shop of the Year.” Most recently, the business became a finalist in the Wagga Business Chambers 2025 Excellence in Micro Business Award.

Global Experience

Cam’s expertise has taken him worldwide. He served on the Official Detail Crew at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and attended Modesta Pluscon events across North America, Europe, and Asia.
He also attended multiple SEMA Shows from 2011 to 2019, building strong industry connections.

Partnerships and Training

These connections led to major partnerships. In 2015, Cam became the Australian distributor for Modesta Coatings, followed by Aensō Car Care Products in 2021.
His training credentials include Meguiar’s NXT Training in the USA (2014), Modesta and IDA certifications (2015), and Rupes Advanced Paint Correction Training (2018).

Alongside running the workshop, Cam delivers national training across Australia. Today, he also hosts Modesta certification programs at his own facility, providing ongoing support and mentoring to new installers.

Industry Contributions

Cam has shared his expertise on major platforms. He appeared on Larry Kosilla’s AMMO NYC Podcast in 2013 and 2014 and joined Alex Russell’s Detail Solutions Podcast three times in 2022. Topics ranged from detailing techniques to mindset, health, and industry growth.

Balance and Family

Despite a demanding schedule, Cam prioritises balance. His day begins at 6am with personal training sessions 3 times a week, and he finishes up at the workshop between 5 and 6pm to spend time with his wife, two young sons, and daughter.

A true enthusiast, Cam proudly owns two V8 Holdens—cars he says will never leave his collection.
