Why Infra-Red Curing Matters
Applying the coating isn’t the final step – and infra-red curing isn’t simply about making it dry faster.
Every Modesta paint coating installation at Custom Car Care Wagga undergoes controlled infra-red heat curing as part of the installation process.
The controlled heat helps activate hardeners within the coating and accelerate the chemical curing process, helping the coating film harden and develop its intended strength and durability.
We’re not using infra-red lamps simply so the vehicle can leave the workshop sooner.
We use them because the way a coating is cured affects the coating you’re ultimately left with.
Rather than applying Modesta and immediately returning the vehicle, we dedicate additional workshop time to systematically heat-cure the coated surfaces under controlled conditions.
Some detailers invest in professional infra-red curing systems and build this process into their ceramic coating installations.
Others will tell you it isn’t necessary.
We know which approach we prefer.
When you’re investing in long-term paint protection, we’d rather invest in the equipment, workshop time and additional process required to help the coating harden properly and develop the durable coating film it was designed to provide.
Infra-red curing doesn’t eliminate the remaining cure period. The coating continues curing and developing its full chemical resistance after leaving our workshop, which is why every customer receives specific aftercare instructions.
For approximately the first 2–3 weeks, we recommend avoiding detergents, snow foams, drive-through car washes and unnecessary washing while the coating completes this process.
