Established in 2003 as a full-time workshop based operation, Custom Car Care Wagga stands as Wagga Wagga’s longest-running auto detailing business under the same ownership and a recognised leader in premium ceramic coating application, paint correction and detailing.

Growing up in Wagga Wagga, Cam Watson developed an early focus on car detailing and paint surface perfection and purchased his first machine operated polisher at just 14 years of age. By the early 2000s, he had already built advanced skills in paint correction, surface refinement and long-term vehicle protection.

After gaining professional experience within a dealership environment between 2001 and 2002, Cam recognised clear limitations in workmanship standards. As a result, at the age of just 23, he established Custom Car Care Wagga to deliver a higher benchmark in professional paint protection, paint correction and vehicle preservation.

Purpose-Built Ceramic Coating Operations

Initially operating from a dedicated leased workshop on Pearson Street from 2003, the business continued to evolve as demand increased. In 2004, Cam began providing new-car pre-delivery detailing, combined with paint and interior protection services, to local dealerships who sought him out for his exceptional attention to detail and consistently reliable workmanship. Over the following four years, he worked closely with dealerships preparing brand-new vehicles to a standard well above typical in-house dealership pre-delivery processes.

By 2008, demand from private vehicle owners had grown significantly. As the retail side of the business gained momentum, Cam made the deliberate decision to step away from dealership work entirely, allowing Custom Car Care to focus exclusively on private customers seeking higher-level detailing, paint correction, and long-term vehicle protection. Since 2008, the business has remained 100% retail-focused, prioritising quality over volume.

In 2012, operations expanded into a larger street-front leased premises, complete with a showroom and customer reception area. That same year, Custom Car Care Wagga became the first independent detailing business in the Riverina to introduce professional ceramic coating services. At the time, ceramic coatings were virtually unknown in the regional market, and no other local detailers were offering the technology. With several years of experience already protecting new vehicles, the transition into ceramic coatings was a natural progression. Demand for these advanced protection services grew rapidly, laying the foundation for what would later become a fully purpose-built ceramic coating and paint correction operation.

In 2014, an electrical fault within the premises switchboard caused a fire outside business hours at approximately 8:00pm. Importantly, no staff or customers were present at the time. Following the incident, the business operated from two temporary locations over a nine-month period before relocating to its current Dobney Avenue facility in 2015.

Although challenging, this period strengthened operational discipline and long-term resilience. Throughout the transition, Custom Car Care Wagga continued delivering premium detailing and ceramic coating services, maintaining client confidence and continuity of service.

In 2025, after ten years of leasing the Dobney Avenue premises, Cam purchased the unit, securing permanent ownership of the workshop and providing long-term stability for ceramic coating and paint correction operations in Wagga Wagga.

Modesta Ceramic Coatings & Industry Leadership

Beyond local operations, Cam’s ceramic coating expertise extends nationally and internationally. Over time, he attended multiple SEMA Shows in Las Vegas (2011–2019) and served on the Official Detail Crew at SEMA 2013. In 2014, Cam attended Meguiar’s NXT Advanced Paint Correction & Sanding Training at Meguiar’s Headquarters in Irvine, California. The intensive program was led by Jason Rose, Kevin Brown, and Jason Kilmer, three of the most respected figures in the global paint correction industry. This training further refined Cam’s technical expertise in advanced machine polishing, defect removal, and modern clear-coat systems. Cam also participated in several Modesta Pluscon events across North America, Europe and Asia between 2015 and 2025. remaining closely connected to global best practices, emerging technologies, and elite industry standards.

As a direct result of this ongoing international exposure and advanced technical training, Cam was appointed Australian Distributor forModesta Ceramic Coatings in 2015, one of the world’s most technically advanced and scientifically engineered ceramic coating systems.

Over the following decade, he played a central role in establishing, developing, and supporting the Modesta installer network across Australia, delivering certification training, advanced application education, technical mentoring, and ongoing business guidance. Throughout this period, Cam continued to operate Custom Car Care Wagga as a full-time, active workshop, ensuring his training and support were grounded in real-world application rather than theory alone.

Strategic Refocus on Ceramic Coating Excellence

In late 2025, Cam made the deliberate decision to step back from Modesta distribution, not due to a lack of success, but because family had become more important than ever. With his wife and three young children as his priority, refocusing on Custom Car Care Wagga allowed Cam to invest his time and energy where it mattered most: delivering exceptional ceramic coating and paint correction services locally, while achieving a healthier balance between business and family life.
